We are delighted to announce that CField have been appointed by O’ Callaghan Properties as the main contractor to deliver 103 new apartments at The Flour Mills in Cork’s South Docks which will be delivered in partnership with the Land Development Agency (LDA).
The new homes are being developed at Kennedy Quay next to the River Lee. The project is a core part of the ongoing regeneration of the Cork Docklands and will act as a catalyst for further redevelopment in the immediate and surrounding area.
The project comprises the construction of a new apartment building containing 103 residential units over nine floors. The 103 homes include 45 one-bed, 42 two-bed and 16 three-bed apartments arranged around a landscaped communal courtyard. The building also includes commercial accommodation at ground floor level together with residential amenities. The scope of works will also include the part demolition and temporary weathering of the existing Odlums flour mill building which was originally constructed around 1892 as a granary and was previously a busy and distinctive landmark on the city’s quays.
The new apartment buildings structure is founded on piled foundations with a reinforced concrete frame and includes two stair cores, two passenger lifts and integrated balcony provisions throughout. Residential units are designed to achieve contemporary energy and sustainability standards through hot water heat pump, electrical radiators, MVHR systems and roof-mounted photovoltaic panels.
Works have commenced on site and we can't wait to see this project start to take shape!
