Junior Construction Planner

As a result of securing several new contracts, CField is seeking a motivated individual to assist the Construction Planner in managing project schedules from commencement to completion. SUMMARY OF ROLE: 

Reporting to the Construction Planner, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in developing and updating detailed project schedules to ensure that construction projects are completed on time and within budget. This role involves close collaboration with Project Managers, Engineers, and Subcontractors to assist in planning and monitoring project activities, allocating resources effectively, and identifying potential risks and delays. The Junior Construction Planner will assist in ensuring that project milestones are met and that all stakeholders are informed of progress and any adjustments needed. The successful candidate will work closely with their manager, gaining exposure to planning activities through attending planning meetings while developing valuable experience to support their learning and professional development.

 

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties include but are not limited to:

 

Project Scheduling:

  • Assist in developing and maintaining detailed project schedules using scheduling software (MS Project)
  • Assist with coordinating Last Planner process
  • Monitor timelines for project milestones and deliverables in coordination with the Construction Planner and project management team
  • Monitor and update project schedules regularly to reflect actual progress, identify variances, and adjust plans as necessary
  • Support project teams in tracking progress, critical path activities, milestones, and schedule performance

Risk Management:

  • Assist with identifying potential project risks, including schedule delays
  • Assist in monitoring project progress and adjusting schedules with manager to address any emerging risks or issues

Communication and Reporting:

  • Assist with the preparation of project status reports, including progress summaries
  • Assist internal teams / site teams with tracking and reporting to ensure clear communication 

Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including trackers, and progress reports

Tendering:

  • Assist Construction Planner in creating Construction programmes 
 

KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Project Management, or a related field is preferable but not essential
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience in construction planning, project scheduling, or a related role
  • Knowledge of construction processes, phases, and best practices is preferable but not essential
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to build excellent working relationships with a wide range of people
  • Proficiency in scheduling software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly MS Excel
